Paris Hilton has been charged with misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence in the Los Angeles County Court. Although the broadcast, print and Internet media made a big deal out of this; it happens hundreds of times a day in Los Angeles. Hollywood is an entertainment district with a lot of nightclubs located in a small geographic area. The police know where the hot clubs are as well as Paris Hilton and the Papparazzi!
The police cruise these areas, knowing that the many people will be leaving the clubs around 2 A.M. after spending the night drinking, dancing and spending lots of money. That's the whole idea behind the cities establishing entertainment districts; the revenue from business license "fee$" and sales taxes from food and drinks goes to the city.
Paris Hilton had spent the day at a music video taping and had not had a chance to eat anything. When she got to the club everybody was aware that she had arrived; there are people in the clubs that are paid by the tabloids to keep an eye out for celebrities and call the reporters with the location and what is happening.
The arrival of multiple Electronic News Gathering (ENG) vans draws the attention of the police also.
So when Paris Hilton left the club she was pulled over, and the police conducted a "Field Sobriety Test", which had a result just over the legal threshold.
The cost in fines and legal fees for Paris Hilton will be around $3,500. These type of "violations" are common, and are a big money maker for the court system.
Paris Hilton was not caught "Drunken Driving", she was not "impaired" by the one Margarita she had. These cases are usually handled by the attorney involved, ending up with the driver on "probation" and the DUI your driving record, for ten years.
It would be worth it for Paris Hilton to ask for a trial, to get the charges dismissed.
Paris Hilton makes the club scene and gets to hear all the newest music.
